We are actively supporting our most vulnerable fellow citizens
September 29 is the International Day of Awareness of Food Loss and Waste (IDAFLW). And that’s why a volunteer group of Enel Green Power employees, in collaboration with the NGO “Dinner of Love,” prepared and distributed 1,000 meals to the homeless, in areas around the center of Athens.
In a great act of humanity, volunteers from Enel Green Power prepared and distributed 1,000 portions of freshly cooked meals in Athens, under the guidance of the “Dinner of Love” crew. The areas in question included Thissio, Monastiraki and the streets around Ermou Street, Athinas Street, Evangelistrias Street, and Agia Irini Square, and in all of these places the volunteers showed people in need their solidarity, support and love
Indeed, for Enel Green Power, any action that contributes to the common good and promotes social solidarity is always a priority. This is especially true when it comes to helping our fellow human beings as they try to cope with extreme poverty and hunger which, unfortunately, characterize much of Athens. The contribution and awareness of companies in addressing the social phenomenon of extreme poverty, which stigmatizes everyday life in our city, is particularly important. Thus, the EGP employees, who were guided by the philosophy of a company that embraces volunteering as a way of life, did the obvious. They stood by the NGO Dinner of Love, to help those in need.
As the founder of “Dinner of Love,” Marianna Peppa, says: "We thank the almost 50 employees of Enel Green Power Hellas, who left behind their families and their jobs and supported us, from the bottom of their hearts, to spread hope and joy to people in need.”
Moreover, Kostantinos Efraimidis, Head of Communication at Enel Green Power, adds: "Solidarity is all our society needs in order to move forward. The whole team at Enel Green Power Hellas is proud to have spread joy to our homeless fellow citizens. The company’s volunteer team will always be willing to help resolve the everyday problems of our society.”
Every day Enel Green Power shows its commitment to a sustainability model based on initiatives and targeted actions that benefit society wherever it operates. Enel Green Power's Creating Shared Value - CSV initiatives are fully aligned with the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This particular action is part of SDG 2: “Zero Hunger.”
