The Plant

The Baselice wind farm

The Baselice wind farm (in Benevento, in southern Italy) consists of 10 wind turbines, totaling about 36 MW of entirely renewable capacity. When fully operational, the plant produces more than 93 GWh per year, which is enough energy to meet the needs of 34,000 households, thus avoiding the emission into the atmosphere of about 41,000 tons of CO2 equivalent each year.

Baselice is contributing to the ebitts revolution

The Baselice wind farm is one of two plants used (along with the Piani della Marina photovoltaic park in Tarquinia) by ebitts for the creation of Token Boxes.

This is an innovative system that enables customers to access self-generation of renewable energy, even if they do not have the ability to directly install a PV system on their roof. The ebitts Token Box does in fact contain digital components representing fractions of real renewable installations located in Italy. The energy produced by the plant fractions is directly deducted from the bill of the buyer, or beneficiaries identified by the buyer, on an hourly basis. If the energy produced exceeds the hourly consumption of the buyer or the beneficiaries, the excess amount is given a value that’s parameterized to that of energy on the wholesale market: this generates a further reduction on the bill.

Through the ebitts app, users can track in real time how much clean energy is generated and self-consumed.
