The Ceprano hydroelectric power plant

The Ceprano hydroelectric power plant, which entered into operation in 1929, is located in the municipality of the same name in the province of Frosinone. It is one of the plants located along the Liri River. The Ceprano is an open-air power plant and is fed by the San Eleuterio and Rio Cancello reservoir in the municipality of Arce. It’s connected - via a pressure tunnel - to the Collemezzo reservoir, near Ceprano. The Collemazzo reservoir provides the pressure for the diversion tunnel, which leads to a vertical well and an open-air penstock built in reinforced concrete.

The plant was automated in 1984 and then retrofitted in 1986.
