Crevola Toce Hydroelectric Power Plant
The Crevola Toce hydroelectric power plant is located in Crevoladossola, a municipality in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, in the Ossola Valley in Piedmont. It was designed by the architect Piero Portaluppi in 1923 and is considered a masterpiece of industrial architecture of that period, including for its Deco style. In 2017, the Italian postal service issued a postage stamp depicting the plant in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Portaluppi’s death.

The Crevola plant is a reservoir power plant that uses the waters of the Toce River that pour into Lake Tana, a naturalistic area that was created in the 1940s by the creation of the artificial dam. This power plant, like the other plants in the Ossola Valley, is not only perfectly integrated into the landscape but is an iconic structure, a destination for photographers and enthusiasts of industrial architecture. As part of the enhancement of the area's assets, we are developing a sustainable tourism project in the Ossola Valley: we’re opening the facilities to the public, installing artistic lighting systems and developing sustainable mobility.
