High Wind in Alberta
Located in Minburn and Vermilion River counties, central Alberta, Canada, Grizzly Bear Creek Wind Farm is operating approximately 170 km east of Edmonton. The 152 MW wind farm has 34 wind turbines, most of which are higher capacity megawatt towers which minimize environmental impact. It is Enel’s fourth wind farm in Alberta. Enel also operates the Castle Rock Ridge and Riverview wind farms in Pincher Creek, southern Alberta.

Community Impact
Enel Green Power is committed to creating long-term shared value and opportunities for rural economic development and long-term sustainability in its host communities. This involves investments in the areas of sustainable construction, education, and economic development. Enel has partnered with ALUS Canada to support sustainable ranching practices in the agricultural community through work with the local high school in a manner similar to a 4H program. We believe contributing to the education system will provide long-lasting benefits. That’s why we’ve also partnered with Lakeland College on renewable energy education for students, including mature students seeking a career change.
Furthermore, Enel is supporting Firefighter Aid Ukraine with the Edmonton Fire Department to provide equipment and support to first responders in Ukraine. As part of our COVID relief efforts, we donated CAD $1,200 to the Vegreville Food Bank. Enel is also supporting mental health across the province through the Drop the Mask initiative, which encourages attendees and donors to drop the metaphorical "mask" worn when it comes to mental health. The goal is to take what is typically a solemn topic and create a fun atmosphere where mental health becomes approachable. We look forward to working with the communities to identify other areas where Enel can contribute.
Sustainable model
Enel Green Power is committed to the sustainable worksite model and to creating shared value (CSV). We closely monitor sustainability performance for energy, waste and water management, and the economic impact on the local community. This project created approximately 250 local construction jobs and 7 full-time, permanent jobs in operations and maintenance.

Digital Initiatives
In building wind farms, we deploy innovative tools and techniques, such as construction machinery equipped with active safety systems, smart tracking, advanced digital platforms and tablet software solutions for monitoring and remotely supporting site activities, as well as plant commissioning. These processes and tools will enable swifter, more accurate and reliable data collection, thereby improving the quality of construction and facilitating communication between on-site and off-site teams. Smart glasses, 360-degree cameras and drones are used in order to perform virtual site visits, safety inspections and gather more information about the site.
