Tlaxcala, a small state shining with the light of a great project
Tlaxcala is the smallest state in Mexico, and yet, at the same time, it is a place with enormous potential for renewable generation. A clear example of this is Magdalena II, the state’s first renewable energy project. With 550,000 bifacial modules, Magdalena II is a solar park rich in technology and innovation. It is the only solar power plant in Mexico to use bifacial modules, which follow the sun using tracker mechanisms, thereby enabling them to exploit its radiation more fully.

Impact on local communities
Magdalena II was built in alignment with the Sustainable Construction Site model: this is a culture of using resources rationally, which involves reasonable water consumption, waste saving and recycling systems, as well as initiatives to support local communities.
As a result of the COVID-19 health crisis, we were unable to receive groups of students at the facilities. We therefore developed virtual tours so that we could keep teaching them the importance of renewable energies, their functionality and technology. This was in addition to sharing with them Enel Green Power's commitment to the local flora and fauna and the environment in general.
In order to boost economic growth, the development of employment centers and to keep young people from migrating in search of employment, we organized various workshops in the Hueyotlipan community:
Preparation of ointments with traditional medicine potential.
Sewing workshop.
Artisan soap and carpentry workshops.
In order to leverage and improve local products, agricultural activities were carried out, such as:
Development of a local vegetable garden.
Workshops on diversifying crops and affordable irrigation.
Workshops on the use of garden products.
Training courses on the use of waste, the proper use of containers and making compost.
803 beneficiaries.
