The Narzole hybrid hydroelectric + photovoltaic power plant
The Narzole hydroelectric power plant is located in the municipality of the same name, in the province of Cuneo, near the Langhe area.
It is a flowing water plant equipped with a "Francis" turbine. The conduction is automatic/autonomous.
The power plant, which has been in service since 1946, uses water from an adduction channel that starts from a place called Buretto, in the municipality of Bene Vagienna, and runs for nearly 10 km.
The photovoltaic system, on the other hand, was built between 2023 and 2024, partially covering the bypass channel with some 2,600 new-generation double-sided modules that were made at our 3Sun factory in Catania, Italy.

Milestone
Impact on local communities
The 1 MW photovoltaic power plant, which partially covers the Narzole channel, in addition to producing clean and renewable energy, will also reduce water evaporation. The structure is equipped with a series of sensors for monitoring the channel flow rate, and CCTV cameras, which are necessary for the security of the PV system. The levees have been secured, and a new section of the bike path has been built next to the channel, and it now reaches the town center. The path has been renovated and is now lit.
