Centrale idroelettrica Ettore Conti

The “Ettore Conti” hydroelectric power plant, one of the oldest in Italy, is located in Verampio, in the Ossola valley, in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in Piedmont. It came into operation at the beginning of the 20th century. It was designed by the architect Piero Portaluppi, and is perfectly integrated into the surrounding landscape.

Impact on local communities

The Verampio power plant, like the other plants in the Ossola Valley designed by Portaluppi, is not only perfectly integrated into the landscape but is an iconic structure, a destination for photographers and enthusiasts of industrial architecture. As part of the enhancement of the area's assets, we are developing a sustainable tourism project in the Ossola Valley: we’re opening the facilities to the public, installing artistic lighting systems and developing sustainable mobility.
