Madre Vieja Solar Project

The Madre Vieja solar project is located in Panama, in the Municipality of Progreso (district of Barú, province of Chiriquí), near the east coast. It spans approximately 33 hectares and will have an installed capacity of 31 megawatts. It will be equipped with a total of around 70,000 solar panels. This is EGP's tenth solar plant in Panama, and the company is the leading renewable energy operator in this Central American country.

Impact on the local community

The new solar project is another symbol of our commitment to developing sustainable energy in Panama and promoting the energy transition, in line with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Furthermore, we are specifically focusing on SDG #5 (Gender Equality): we hired five women to install solar panels during the construction of the plant.
