The Plant

Trino solar park + storage facility

We’re building the Trino solar park in the municipality of Trino in the province of Vercelli, Piedmont. It will be one of the largest ground-mounted solar plants in northern Italy, and will be built on a production site of around 130 hectares adjacent to the former Galileo Ferraris electric power plant.

The plant will be built with the best technologies currently available on the market: photovoltaic panels which can absorb energy on both sides (bifacial modules) will be mounted on structures able to follow the movement of the sun during the day (mono-axial trackers), so as to maximize the amount of renewable energy produced.

The approximately 86 MW plant will be coupled with a 25 MW electrochemical storage system capable of ensuring a sufficient supply of electricity to meet demand and providing ancillary services to the grid.

A project for the development of renewables that residents can contribute to in solidarity

This project is also an opportunity for the local community. The solar park is part of the Renewable Choice project, dedicated to encouraging the active and concrete participation of local communities in the development of clean energy, and facilitating the country’s progress towards decarbonization

In particular, this initiative gives local residents the opportunity to raise money for the project online, by means of a crowdfunding campaign, which offers the possibility of an economic return based on a fixed annual interest rate, as well as the recovery of the initial capital invested.
