Colombia: on the road to renewables with EGP
Colombia is one of the world’s richest countries in terms of natural resources and biodiversity. A treasure to be preserved through an increasing use of energy produced from renewable sources: a challenge that has Enel Green Power in the forefront.
With more than 300 ecosystems and about 55,000 species present, Colombia is a country full of natural treasures, spread over a territory characterized by extensive river basins, high levels of solar radiation and strong wind currents.
Energy is a key element to protect Colombia’s environmental assets and to foster a sustainable development model that protects and enhances it.

El Paso and the Renewables Challenge
To protect its biodiversity and safeguard its many ecosystems, the Colombian government aims to use solely energy from renewable sources by 2030.
To help with the Bogotá government’s “green” strategy, Enel Green Power is building its first solar field in Colombia in El Paso: the largest structure of its kind currently under construction in the country, situated in the northern regions, in the department of Cesar.
“El Paso will be equipped with more than 260,000 solar panels spread over 270 hectares, for an installed capacity of 86 MW and an average generation of 176 GWh.”
Antonio Cammisecra, CEO of Enel Green Power, is currently visiting the Latin American country. From 20 to 24 May, his schedule of appointments has him at the solar plant under construction, which will be completed by the end of the year.
