Marina Lombardi is Head of Innovation at Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation, the Enel business line that deals with power generation from conventional and renewable sources. She leads a global team setting the innovation strategy and delivering new solutions for the power generation value chain.
Previously in her career, she developed smart grid technologies and business models to foster renewables and electrification. In 2022-2023, as the Global Head of Innovation at Enel Grids, she developed robotics, AI, sustainable design of grid components and technologies, grid resilience, and flexibility technologies. Previously, she introduced the Network Digital Twin technology for grid design, operation, and maintenance. At e-distribuzione in 2020-2021, she led smart metering and remote-control technologies, and played a key role in creating the spin-off tech-company Gridspertise, contributing to its market proposition, business plan, technology strategy and company set-up. In 2016-2018, at the World Economic Forum, she coordinated public-private cooperation initiatives for the energy transition.
A telecommunications engineer, she holds an Executive Master in Technology and Innovation Management from the Bologna Business School and diplomas from Yale and ESADE through the WBCSD’s specialization course in sustainability. She is co-president of the BBS Alumni Association, a member of the board of directors of Valore D and a WeQual alumna.
She enjoys playing classical piano, cycling and swimming.
