Umberto Magrini is the Head of Engineering & Construction for Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation, Enel’s business line for energy generation from conventional and renewable sources.
He manages an important growth plan for renewable plants within the Group, through planning, design to cost, construction and commissioning of plants around the world.
He joined the Market Division of the Enel Group in 2001, covering various roles. In 2007, he became Head of Engineering and New Technology for Enel.si.
In 2008, he took over the management of the design and construction unit for solar plants in Enel’s Renewable Energy Division. He was subsequently named head of Enel.si, in the area of distributed generation from renewable sources and energy efficiency. In 2010, he was Head of Engineering for Renewables at Enel Green Power, specifically for the design of wind, photovoltaic, hydroelectric, geothermal and biomass plants. He has been Head of E&C for Enel Green Power since December 2014 and has held the same role in Enel’s Global Power Generation business line since 2019.
He has 25 years of experience in various roles at industrial and plant engineering companies working on plants for generation (CCGT, diesel, biomass), production and use of hydrogen (Fuel Cell), the last 20 of which have been focused on renewable plants. He started his career in 1992 and, over the years, has been Project Engineer, Project Manager and Business Unit Director for important plant engineering and industrial companies in Italy and abroad.
In the renewables field, Umberto has managed important investments in the construction of wind, solar, hydropower and geothermal plants for a total capacity of about 15 GW and has been an advisor to several boards of companies within the Enel Group.
Born in Genoa in 1965, he has a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Genoa and a Master of Business Administration from Jacobs University in Bremen. He has also taken part in Executive Programs at important universities, such as Harvard Business School, Rice University, Moscow International Business School, and LUISS Business School.
Married with two daughters, he loves sailing, skiing, mountain climbing, and cycling, and his biggest dream is to sail around the world with his family.
